VHR Cabernet Sauvignon 2013 Vintage

VHR 2013 On the heels of the idyllic 2012 harvest year, the stellar 2013 growing season brought forward conditions suited to the creation of well-structured, classically styled Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon. The combination of exceptional weather throughout the season and continued attention to farming practices produced a winegrape crop of unsurpassed quality. Fruit harvested from blocks 3, 4, 6, and 7 produced a wine of singular character from this spectacular vintage at Vine Hill Ranch.

Block 7 highlights the cobbly stone and graphite qualities of its creekside setting. Our hillside Block 6 carries the flavor of its forest perimeter—dark fruit, bay laurel, and chaparral—with structured brooding tannins. Block 3, planted to our deep gravelly loam benchland soils, introduces a complementary dark-fruited complexity, character, and structure. Block 4 delivers vibrant red fruits, a spirited mouth feel, and fine silky tannins.

In the glass, the 2013 VHR, Vine Hill Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon displays perfumed aromatics of candied violets, salted caramel mocha, morello cherries, warm blackberries, dark chocolate, wild purple sage, clove, and cinnamon. Intensity and power converge with refined elegance and a lush, silky texture—mouth filling with toast, French vanilla, and black fruit. There is depth and concentration here, with supple tannins, hints of minerality, and rich, dark soil. The wine finishes with incredible persistence, power, purity, and presence, showcasing the diversity in the seven blocks of Vine Hill Ranch.
